Delray Beach is known for hosting many unique and exciting events. From large, multi-day arts events such as Delray Affair to the one of a kind cool and quirky “Witches Of Delray Ride”, there’s something for everyone. In 2022, young Delray Beach native Max Zengage had a vision: Develop an event that combined his love of exotic and classic cars with his passion for giving back to the Delray Beach community. Thus was born “Delray Beach Concours D’Elegance”, a reinvention of the formal international concept of the world renowned Concours D’Elegance auto events held in such locales as Pebble Beach and Amelia Island.
The origin of “Concours” events is fascinating. The original events date back to 17th-century France, where aristocrats paraded horse-drawn carriages in the parks of Paris during summer weekends and holidays. Over time, carriages became horseless, and the gatherings became a competition among vehicle owners to be judged on the appearance of their vehicles. Modern day “Concours” events highlight some of the world’s most exotic, unique, and rare automobiles.
Delray’s inaugural Concours event held last June saw thousands of spectators and auto enthusiasts viewing over 100 rare, exotic, and unique automobiles. Delray resident and participant in last year’s event Spencer Dillman said “It’s the local home town start of a future elite concours event. It’s getting excellent regional attraction and I’m excited to see it grow!”.
Now, Delray Beach Concours D’Elegance is back for its sophomore year. This year’s event will be held Saturday June 17th, 9am – 4pm on the grounds of Old School Square and will be showcasing close to $70,000,000 in autos.
Delray Beach Commissioner Ryan Boylston is a big fan of this event. “When considering City sponsorship of event, I ask myself: Will this event have a positive impact on the community, is the event free and easily accessible to all Delray residents and does the event raise funds and/or awareness for our local non-profits? Delray Beach Concours checks all 3 boxes!”
Last year's event had a substantial impact on the community raising thousands of dollars for Achievement Centers for Children and Families, Miracle League of Palm Beach County, Community Classroom Project, Delray Citizens for Delray Police and lastly, The Delray Fire Benevolent Fund.
